Three Northern Sisters open hospitals in Muse 105-mile trade zone

The three Northern Sisters have opened a new hospital in the 105-mile trade zone, just outside Muse, on the China-Myanmar border in northern Shan State, sources have confirmed to the BBC.

“The opening ceremony was held yesterday, July 8,” a source said.

A picture sent to the BBC shows a sign on the front of the hospital, which reads: Mong Yu 105-mile Hospital, a public hospital.

The current hospital is located in a former laboratory that used to test imported and exported goods from the 105-mile trade zone, the source said.

The hospital will be staffed by CDM doctors and nurses from the NUG Health Ministry, as well as a team of military medical officers from the Arakan Army (AA).

“There are X-ray rooms and ultrasounds. The three groups will also build and replenish the necessary hospital equipment,” said a source close to the Kokang National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), one of the three northern groups.

He added that the three groups had been preparing to open the hospital since last February.

The three northern groups are made up of the Kokang National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Arakan Army (AA).

The three groups have been operating the Muse 105-mile trade zone since they captured it during Operation 1027.
